Product Review for FOTILE EMS9021R - Recycle Hood

Fotile EMS9021R is the best recycle hood available here in Malaysia. If you are staying in a condo whereby you could not hack a hole at the wall for ventilation, then this is a hood that you must buy.


1) Oil & Smell Filtration
As the air will be recirculating back into your kitchen, the most important thing for a good recycle hood is the filtration system. The first layer of filtration is a double layer mesh, this will filter out majority of the oil from the smoke. As EMS9021R has a surround suction plate and an oil cup, there is no need for it to have many layers of mesh to trap oil (prevent dripping), hence reducing filter clogging issue. The second layer of filtration is a 10.5 buffer space between the outer mesh filter and the inner carbon filter. This buffer space ensures that the grease filtered by the mesh filter will not stick to the inner carbon filter, thereby extending the lifespan of the carbon filter. The third layer is single layer mesh protecting the carbon filter from oil. With the many layers of oil filtration, the final stage is smell filtration using a 20mm high density carbon filter. As per photo above, the EMS9021R carbon filter is easily 4 times the amount of a regular carbon filter, hence better odor reduction and longer lifespan.


2)Perfect Balance of Suction Power


For recycle hood, the stronger the suction power does not equal to better performance. If the suction power is too high, the wind that is blown out from the top of the hood will be redirected downwards either through the ceiling or the side cabinets and cause the smoke to be blown away. With numerous testing, FOTILE has found the perfect balance 1,080m3/h suction power.


3) Surround Suction Technology

By adding a metal plate below of the hood, this increases the smoke accumulation area to 0.21m²  to ensure that grease and smoke cannot escape from any of the 4 sides of the hood. Besides increasing the accumulation area, suction power is improved with the plate as well. This is similar to our garden hose, if we cover the hose outlet by half, the water is able to spray further (increased in pressure). By blocking the middle part of the hood and focusing the suction only on three sides, this increases the suction pressure and hence better suction power + performance.

4) Bionic Wing Impellers

FOTILE EMS9020 sirocco fan is 10" diameter, one of the biggest in the market while most brands are 6" or 8". Besides bigger diameter, the impeller wavy design simulates the arrangement of eagle wing feather . With this aerodynamic design, it improves the smoke extraction speed and lower noise level. 


 5) Microporous - Noise Reduction
 

 

A stainless steel plate with micropore holes is added infront of the sirocco fan to absorb echo noise. This concept is similar to the noise reduction wall used in karaoke rooms.
